Pastor Joseph Fricke was born in Saginaw, MI, where his father taught at the Michigan Lutheran Seminary. When he was five years old, he moved with his family to Watertown, WI, where his father taught at Northwestern College. At Watertown, Pastor Fricke attended St. Mark's Lutheran School, Martin Lutheran Prep School and Northwestern College, from which he graduated with a B.A. in 1989. He continued his schooling at Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary, Mequon, WI, from which he graduated with a Master of Divinity degree in 1993. Pastor Fricke served as Vicar at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Vasser MI. He served as Pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Valentine, NE from 1993 to 2000. In 2000, he accepted the call extended to him by Grace Lutheran Church, Portland, OR. In May of 2004, he accepted the call extended to him to be pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Mauston. Pastor Fricke's wife, Rebecca, was born and raised in Montello, WI, where she attended St. John's Lutheran School. She graduated from Winnebago Lutheran Academy and enrolled at Martin Lutheran College, New Ulm, MN. After graduating in 1988, Rebecca taught grades one to three at Zion Lutheran School in Osceola, WI. Since then she has also taught preschool at Zion Lutheran Church in Valentine, NE, and at Grace Lutheran Church, Portland, OR. The Fricke's have four children, Lucas, 16, a Junior at Luther Prep High School in Watertown, Evan 15, a Sophomore at Luther Prep High School in Watertown, Emily 13 and in the 8th grade, and Haley 10 in Fifth grade, at St Paul's Lutheran School in Wonewoc. The family enjoys the outdoors, including fishing and hunting, and the boys especially enjoy baseball and football.
